Crime Scene Processing in Trinidad, Colorado

What do the actors Tom Sizemore, Mason Alan Dinehart III, and Gene Barry have in common?

Last month, the Trinidad, Colorado Police Department hosted BGA's Crime Scene Processing class. Trinidad is 13 miles north of the New Mexico state line. The city is in Las Animas county which is the largest of Colorado's 64 counties in terms of area. The historic Santa Fe Trail goes through the city. Some of the downtown streets in Trinidad are brick as there was a large brick factory there in the twentieth century. Bat Masterson was the town Marshall in the 1880s. There is a family-run Italian restaurant occupying the area inside an old church. Besides having great food it is known for its singing waiters!

One photo shows the Sangre de Cristo mountains beneath a vibrant blue sky west of Trinidad. Another photo shows one of the older brick streets. (I was lucky enough to catch it between snow storms.) In addition, the class photo taken by Lt. Mike Tihonovich.

The spring and summer calendar is filling up quickly. We have some courses scheduled out to May 2023. If your agency is interested in hosting a course, contact Craig Gravel for more information: 405 706-8489.

To host a BGA course, the hosting agency must agree to market and coordinate registration in order to meet minimum class size of 14 paying students. For their effort the hosting agency receives as compensation, the following:

  • If the hosting agency achieves the 14 paying-student minimum, the hosting agency will receive one free tuition.

  • If the hosting agency achieves 18 -paying-students, the hosting agency will receive a total of two free tuitions.

  • If the hosting agency achieves 21 paying-students, the hosting agency will receive a total of three free tuitions.

The answer to the trivia question: All of these actors played the role of Bat Masterson. Sizemore in the 1994 Kevin Costner film "Wyatt Earp," Dinehart in 1955-1957 in the Hugh O'Brien television show "The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp," and Barry had the role in television's "Bat Masterson" 1959-1961.
